Articulation for All: Delivering a Planned Articulation System
Glasgow Caledonian University, George Moore Building, Room M201
Thursday 26th May 2011
Conference Aims, Themes, and Objectives
The Greater Glasgow Articulation Partnership (GGAP) hub at Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is pleased to announce the Third Annual Articulation for All Conference. This year the conference is to be hosted by GGAP at GCU in conjunction with the Scottish Funding Council (SFC).
The aim of the conference is to provide delegates with the opportunity to discuss current articulation development work taking place across the regional articulation hubs, as well as to influence the shape of future strategic planning at a national level.
The themes for the day include:
· Policy, Partnership and Practice
· Data Gathering Evidence & Impact
· Articulation at Work
· The Student Voice: Transition support and Guidance
During the day, college and university partners will be engaged in discussions, through the workshops and presentations that centre on the development of a planned, effective articulation system for Scotland.
Our objective is to ensure that the day has a highly interactive element which will generate useful ideas for delivering a planned articulation system. To this end the conference workshops have been designed to include a paper from colleagues engaged in the articulation work of the hubs. Workshop speakers will be encouraged to share the transferable outcomes of their developments. In addition, workshop attendees will be tasked with identifying the steps required in order to move towards a coherent and effective national articulation system.

Articulation and the Greater Glasgow Articulation Partnership (GGAP)
GGAP is one of six articulation hubs, funded by the SFC. The articulation hubs are working towards increasing opportunities for students to articulate from college to university with advanced standing and enhance progression and retention of articulating students once they arrive at university. The work focuses on activities which substantially increase or enhance articulation opportunities for students to years 2 and 3 of degree programmes (SCQF levels 8 & 9). This is done by delivering a collaborative programme of work, with partner colleges, universities, employers and other agencies. The strategic aim of GGAP is to widen participation in Higher Education by developing a sustainable infrastructure which effectively supports greater numbers of articulating students and will ensure that there is no time lost during the articulation process. This infrastructure centres on a longitudinal approach to student support and engagement, which commences when students at college are at the decision-making stage regarding progression and continues through the student life-cycle to successful completion of degree programmes and into employment.
